At Work Down Under

Taking advantage of a work-exchange program, I went to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Adelaide, South Australia.  Lab mates Leanne and Tina told me chromosomes didn’t turn the other way Down Under, good friends and tour guides.  I learned more about molecular cytogenetic techniques, home made probe preparation for FISHing from Graham Webb and molecular biology of Southern blotting and PCR for paternity testing from Jacquie and Maude.  My research project, now a simple method in forensics labs was extraction and amplification of DNA from cheek swabs.
